Just last week, Sarah set off on a mission to investigate how we might take our bags across the pond and into the American market. Conquering America is no small feat, and we’ll need a helping hand or two to get us there. So, when Walpole invited us along to their Art of British Luxury Hospitality in New York, we jumped on a plane, Dahlia-in-hand, and found ourselves in the Big Apple.
Many of you followed Sarah’s trip on our Instagram with her daily updates, but in case you missed it, let us give you the rundown!
Walpole are on a mission to promote the U.K. as the worlds number one luxury destination. Attending the summit were brands from all industries ranging from hospitality, to handbags! Sarah attended talks from British luxury leaders about how to pitch our handbags to an American audience, and enjoyed evening mixers, meeting some incredible businesspeople and creating important contacts.
Situated in the fabulous Whitby Hotel, Sarah heard from industry experts as they discussed the best ways to sell British excellence on the American market. Royal Biographer Robert Hardman spoke about the importance of the King’s coronation in America and Harper’s Bazaar’s Avril Graham shared some insider tips!
Times Luxx magazine’s Lisa Grainger shared the magic of selling a British fairy-tale, and a final panel with leading travel experts shared insights into how UK companies deliver an experience like no other, something we’re sure our future American clientele will be able to find with our handbags.
The trip was a great success and Sarah had a fabulous time making the first steps towards our American dream. Watch out America, Sarah Haran is on it’s way!
