Understanding your wardrobe gives you the power to dress in a way that accenuates your natural beauty. No one understands this more than Melissa Nicholson, founder of Kettlewell Colours. Melissa was kind enough to sit down with us to talk all things colour, clothing and unlocking your confidence.
What makes colour such an important part of our wardrobe?
Besides making me wake up every morning with a smile on my face, colour helps me to feel confident, express myself and hopefully come across as authentic to others.

What are your wardrobe essentials for this season?
Where to start?! We’ve got so many lovely new pieces for AW23 but if I had to narrow down my favourites I’d say the Phoebe Skirt and Alice Blouse in Papaya Bud, Astrid Belt in Pea Green and Cashmerino Scoop in Flamingo Fizz, which is so warm and soft I don’t think I’ll be taking it off all winter!

What’s in your handbag right now?
All the essentials: my purse, mobile, keys, lip gloss, hairbrush – and layouts from the latest Kettlewell catalogue to check through (bedtime reading from our Graphic Design team!).

Do you like a mini bag (just room for keys and lipstick) or maxi bag (room for a change of clothes and the kitchen sink)?
I’m a maxi or nothing!

Which Sarah Haran bag is your favourite style/colour combination?
The Forget Me Not Crossbody in Tan with matching tassel. I like a neutral bag because my clothes are always so colourful and tan is the perfect shade for me. I also love a crossbody because as I’m often travelling for work and like to be hands-free. Then I can keep things separate in the Ivy Pouch.

If you could design your dream bag, what would it look like?
It would be a similar shape to the Forget Me Not bag with zip and inner pockets, perhaps in tan suede, with a bit of fringing and metal trims in gold. In the summertime, I would go for a turquoise version, which is one of my favourite colours.
