As our club has grown, so has the language that is spoken within it! This is a beginners guide to speaking SH. Written in alphabetical order with contributions from out club members, these are words and phrases that are now synonymous with the Bags of Joy Facebook club followers.
Box of Joy (phrase) : Used by a club member to alert the rest of the Joy Squad of an impending delivery of something amazing
DHL Man (or woman! - courier drivers) : The ultimate Hero and the man every club member wants to kiss, even if they aren't that dishy! Our knights in shining armour. The wonderful people who provide the safe delivery of our boxes of joy, that we hope our other halves never see! Some club members even like taking pictures of them to prove delivery has been made.
Dingle Dangle (adjective) : A term used to describe tassels & charms and other 'dangly' things used to accessorise the bags.
Complimentary Bag (noun) : The bag that every club member aspires to own each quarter. Gained complimentary after reaching a certain spend. Many club members reach this goal multiple times!
Exclusive Edits (noun) : The moment of the week that every club member waits for. At 7am every Friday, 4 brand new Exclusive Edits, curated by Sarah, are launched. Amazing savings on the best products ever.
Fluffies (noun) : Faux fur pompom tassels that are the obsession of many of the club members and a collectors favourite.
Hello Ladies! (phrase) : Sarah's famous saying at the start of every video that wakes the Joy Squad up every Friday morning at 7am.
Hubby (noun) : Term usually used to describe the other half. Joy Squad members offer advice to other members on how to hide purchases from hubby, or how to distract him when the DHL man arrives.
Joy HQ (place) : the SH headquarters where the handbag angels work tirelessly to ensure the club members are brought joy every single day.
Joy Squad (noun) : The collective group of women who are the driving force of the Sarah Haran obsession. Together we are a family who share our joy and our woes and give one another incredible support.
Klarna (company) : best friend and facilitator for all SHaddicts who need a bag now, but are on a tight budget.
Play (verb; to play) : when a member of the Joy Squad takes herself to a quiet space and creates endless combinations with her bags and accessories. Usually followed by a photo shoot to present to the rest of the club members.
SHalibi (noun) : A word used to describe how members hide their orders from their other halves/family members and disguise them as something different. Often take form of a free gift or competition win.
SHaddiction (noun) : the inability to avoid adding more gorgeous products to your ever growing collection. Seen as a worth investment.
SHamazing (adjective) : the word commonly used by the club to describe products, events and everything else SH related!
SHeros (noun) : The wonderful team at JoyHQ who work so hard & provide the very best customer service ever
SHoop (verb; to SHoop) : When an order is placed by a club member, and she needs to tell others, so they can empathise with her.
SHooper Trooper (noun) : The singular name for a club member who regularly updates her collection
SHtorage Space (noun) : A cabinet, cupboard or other place where club members store their prized collections
The SHakes (noun) : A severe withdrawal symptom that a Joy Squad member can experience when they have not SHooped in over 7 days
